Sometimes I wonder if the message of Advent is so fundamentally overwhelming that we subconsciously choose to get busy and bake and visit and shop and “do” because to really sit down; breathe in; breathe out; and realize that LOVE is the ultimate expression of God’s nature and that God wants to express that nature by loving US and that God would go to such lengths to SHOW us this love by coming among us in human form – well it’s too much to take in, isn’t it? It’s too much to actually realize that we are worth it; that we matter in God’s eyes. That God loves us. Really loves us. All of us. Deeply loves us.
US.
EVERYONE.
Wow.
Breathe.
Take that in.
If you haven’t guessed yet, this Sunday’s theme is LOVE.
Popular songs tell us that all we need is love; that only love can break your heart; that you can’t hurry love. Through these songs we express things like I want to know what love is; I just called to say I love you; You give love a bad name. And we can think of God as Endless Love, the Greatest Love of all, the Power of Love.
Love, love, love. All you need is love.
See you Sunday.
